One of the best teachers in the world, Kim Rogers, and I "push-in" the kindergarten classrooms, twice a week, during centers. Last week, I had the kids practice some different phonological awareness skills while doing hopscotch. I got this great idea from the Florida Center for Reading Research website (http://www.fcrr.org/index.shtml). Depending on the skill level of the group, kids practiced rhyming, sentence segmentation, and counting syllables. They loved it! Gross motor activities paired with learning is always a bonus!
